Google Adsense

Can someone help me? I have been trying for three days to ad my google adsense into the html code, and I have been unsuccessful. Please help me. I have watched the demo and the things that it is telling me to do is still not working.

    Ok try this, click on dashboard, then click on layout, click add gadget, click adsense and pick the size you want, make sure it says your adsense id number and click save. You can also show ads at the end of your post. Got to layout and click edit blog post. go down too Show Ads Between Posts check the box pick your size and save adsense will only show three ads per page.
